A climber has been airlifted to hospital after falling in the Northern Cairngorms.

Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team, Cairngorm Ski Patrol and Inverness Coastguard helicopter were deployed at about midday.

The climber fell while on a technical climb called Pot of Gold in Coire an t-Sneachda in the Northern Corries. He injured a leg in the fall.

The coastguard helicopter airlifted the man to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

The climber was picked up by the helicopter from about 50m (164ft) up the crag he had been climbing.

Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team said weather conditions were calm and praised the “superb” flying of the coastguard crew.

Coire an t-Sneachda is one of Scotland’s busiest areas for winter climbing.
